Your First Visit — What to Expect
For many, the thought of their first massage is usually exciting and sometimes just a bit intimidating. Put your fears to rest, your first massage should leave you stress-free and relaxed. Here are a few things to keep in mind for your initial visit:
- Arrive 15 minutes early to complete health information, change clothes, and enjoy time for yourself.
- Leave jewelry at home or remove prior to your service.
- Turn off your cell phone.
- Do not bring children; this is an adult environment!
- If you must, only eat a light meal prior to your service.
- Remember, this is a “speak softly” and relaxing environment.
- If you are not sure about your service, ask your therapist what to expect.
- Normally, you are nude while receiving your massage, but covered with a sheet or large towel at all times. You may wear underwear if that's more comfortable for you.
- Taking slow deep breaths during the session will help you to relax.
- You may talk or ask questions during the session, the therapist will take your lead.
- Don’t linger in the massage room for more than five minutes; however, prepare to relax afterward for about an hour, if possible.
Other Considerations
- Massage stirs up toxins in the body, drink lots of water after the session to flush toxins from the body.
- Gift certificates should be presented prior to your service, gratuity (15%) is usually not included.
- Take time to reintegrate after your treatment. Relax your pace and take slow deep breaths.
- If you have a good visit, consider telling others. Spas appreciate your referrals and will often reward you with special service or discounts.
